Mardi Gras officially ends at midnight and many will be in church Wednesday to have ashes daubed on their foreheads as they begin 40 days of prayer, penitence and self-denial leading up to Easter. It's one last chance to eat, drink and be merry before Lent. Parade goers yell for beads and other trinkets at the Leviathan float goes down Napoleon Avenue during the Krewe of Orpheus parade in the Uptown area of New Orleans Monday, Feb. 23, 2009. It
is the fifth in a new class of warship -
designed for missions that include special
operations against terrorists. It will carry a
crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines

Steel
from the

down in a foundry in

cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured
into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough
steelworkers treated it with total reverence,'
recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was
there. 'It was a spiritual moment for everybody
there.'

Junior
Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that
when the trade center steel first arrived, he
touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my

Many Stations Switched .....

Over 421 stations turned off their analog TV transmissions on Tuesday, joining more than 200 others that had already made the switch. Some TV markets in the U.S. still have most of their stations broadcasting in both analog and digital. But San Diego and Santa Barbara, Calif.; Madison, Wisc.; Sioux City, Iowa; Wavo, Texas; Scranton, Penn.; and large swaths of Rhode Island and Vermont, saw most or all of their major stations make the DTV switch on Tuesday. The digital switch is not something they're doing to extort people of their money. This has been in the planning for the last ten years.

The U.S. appeals court reversed a ruling Wednesday that would have transferred 17 Guantanamo Bay detainees. In this photo, reviewed by the US Military, a guard leans on a fence talking to a Guantanamo detainee, inside the open yard at Camp 4 detention center, at the US Naval Base, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. European Union nations expressed support Monday for US moves to close the Guantanamo "war on terror" prison camp but few are keen to accept the freed detainees.
The US will not release the Uighurs to their home for fear they will be tortured. Beijing warned other countries not to accept the men, creating a diplomatic roadblock to President Barack Obama's plan to close the facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, within a year.

Elderly Being Attacked.......

Here in the DFW area, it’s getting to the point that elderly people can’t go to the grocery store and come home to put up their groceries. Criminals are following them home and when they pull up into their driveways or garages, these idiots attack them as they are trying to get out of their cars. They also ring their door bells, and when the door is answered, shove their way inside and attack the people. The elderly are having a bad enough time surviving in today’s world and then you have the uncaring criminals taking from them because they are too feeble to fight back. There’s nothing left that’s sacred anymore. These are people, who need to be protected, just like the children. I’m worried what will become of us all, with the way the economy is getting.

Car Dealers Hurting.........

As dealerships face unprecedented hard times, you might see such publicity-raising moves in your own town as low as 0% financing. Even if you don’t, you will see worried dealers working to move cars off their lots at any cost just to remain in business. Here in our area dealers have gone to extreme lengths to move cars off of their lots, including buy-one-get-one-free sales. What will save you money in January is that car dealers are desperate, and looking to negotiate. So, if your interested in buying a new car then get out there and shop for the best deal you can find and then buy it.

No charges will be filed against American swim star Michael Phelps, from his being photographed with a pipe typically used to smoke marijuana, police announced. I guess they think that he has gotten punishment enough, through the news media and the suspension for 3 months. Whatever be the case, I hope that he realizes that he can't do these type of things, because he's to popular in the news and photographers are everywhere.

Woman Upset..........

A Chinese woman who freaked out at Hong Kong's international airport after missing her flight has hit the big time on YouTube after her hysterics were filmed and uploaded to the video sharing website. This woman was seen charging at a security guard at the departure gate, before screaming "aieyyahhhhh," at the top of her lungs in a rant that lasts about three minutes. She was put on a later flight and sent for free of charge.

Due Out By October

 Aptera 2e
Aptera 2e
The soon-to-be-produced electric vehicle whose shape is slipperier than a Teflon-coated salmon. It's scheduled to begin rolling off the assembly line this October. As yet the price between $25,000 and $40,000 is to be determined. You can charge it overnight from your 110-volt home outlet, and it's claimed to have a range of 100 miles. I wonder what the other car dealers, will come up with? I sure they are looking toward the cars of the future with an eye for this type of flair. I'm not sure I'd like to be in such close surroundings, but then this type of car wouldn't be for the faint of heart. It looks like another toy that the rich can obtain for their collections.

What Type Is It?

009.JPG About a year ago, I was in a Dairy Queen, and the people who owned the franchise, has several plants sitting on the window ledges. I saw some small plants that had taken root in the plants and ask for one. I brought it home and this is what it’s become. I have no idea what type of plant it is, but now it’s putting out of bunch of the little plants and it looks like I’ll have a large crop of these plants before long.

Big trucks and SUVs are among the most appealing to car thieves. In the past few years, big, bold SUVs have become almost synonymous with the success of entertainment and sports stars. You make it big, you buy an Escalade. Or a Hummer. Hopefully, there’s money left over to hire a full-time driver who can watch over the car, because these two vehicles are among the most likely to be stolen.

Etta Furious........

This was a fast and furious week indeed. Etta was furious with Beyonce. One of the most unlikely celebrity feuds in music, exploded this week between legendary jazz singer Etta James and the woman who played Etta in Cadillac Records, Beyonce. We're not sure if Etta was displeased with Beyonce's portrayal of her in the film, or that she was unhappy with Beyonce's performance of the classic Etta song "At Last" at Obama's inauguration. Etta made her displeasure abundantly clear last Wednesday. Performing "At Last" at Seattle's Paramount Theater, launched into a anti Beyonce tirade. "You know that woman he had singing for him, singing my song, she's going to get her a** whipped," "your president...the one with the big ears," "He's not my president." Etta also said she "could not stand" Beyonce.

It's my opinion that Beyonce, has a good voice and can sing most any song..........but there's some things that should be left to the original.

Michael Gets Suspended.......

“Michael accepts these decisions and understands their point of view. He has been suspended for three months and had his training stipend revoked by USA Swimming. Since a photo surfaced showing him inhaling from a marijuana pipe he lost a high-profile sponsor when Kellogg Co, said it wouldn’t renew its deal with Phelps that expires later this month.
“The penalty is far greater than the crime". He has said he is sorry. Let’s move on to the real problems in this country.”
When he posed for Playboy, so many officials looked down on him. Michael knows he isn’t a bad person, he made a mistake, people need to get over it. "The one thing I hope is that people realize Michael is still a person and not just a swimming hero.” He won’t be able to take on any rivals until early May, which would give him a little more than two months of competition before July’s world championships in Rome.

Too Many Kids.........

I'm sure by now you've heard on the news about this woman out in CA, that had 8 babies.........well, that's just part of it.......isn't it? At home she already had 6 kids.............now, I ask you...........what was she thinking? All the children have been through invitro which is an expensive procedure.........and she's not able to afford it? What's going on with the doctor in this situation? Some form of insanity is rising from this situation........and it's not considered to be the thing to do if you can't afford it. Maybe some fringe benefits were going on behind the scenes.......
This woman lives with her mother, with 6 kids, she filed bankruptcy last year......she is divorced and that man is not the father of any of the children........Now, there's 8 more kids to feed and take care of..........? I'm not real happy with the fact the government, state and local agencies are now subject to service. Then you have all these places that will give them things for free, to call it a donation and a tax write off...........Maybe even a house............which she won't be able to afford........since........utilities on a large home can mount up fast...........and there's always homeowner taxes, that come yearly........! Oh, well I guess there will be someone who will donate to that to......

Another Stimulus

The chances have increased that Congress could pass a second stimulus package during its lameduck session following the presidential election. The administration believes that many of the proposals being discussed would not stimulate the economy.
The first stimulus package was passed last February. It consisted mostly of tax rebates. The rebates were first sent out in late April and continued into the summer. I got mine in May and was very glad to get it. My sister didn’t get one at all, and figured it was because she never worked in the public that year.
While they boosted consumer spending in the short-term, they didn’t do so nearly as much as they boosted consumers’ savings or ability to pay down debt.
The proposal would only apply to people who bought second or third properties over the next 18 months and held their properties for at least five years. That leaves me out, because I don’t intend to buy anymore property and my house will be paid for in 3 years.
So it’s a wait and see situation……….and if I get one ………..then I’ll put it in the bank like I did the last one, in order to pay the house taxes this year.

I really enjoy this link post thing, and some of the blogs, I’ve been to are really outstanding. Counting this one as tops to some of the others, I can say, this man has the gift of gab. He write great posts and gives ideas’ I had forgotten about. They layout of his blog should give him plenty of traffic. It has a nice crisp atmosphere, with an easy to read format. I like the white background, it really brings out the words.
I’ve notice his nice blog, because of the set up and the template. I’ve been shopping for nice blog templates, to accent my personality. Fixing Up This Old House.......

I’ve been wondering which I’m going to do first, when I finally get my house paid off. I have many things that need fixing up and I suppose the foundation, will be the 1st to get the attention. I will need to save up the money, because the economy is so bad these days and it won’t give me a home owner loan, until it’s in my name. I am buying from an individual, so the house won’t be put in my name until it’s paid for. That’s December 2011 and a ways off so I’m keeping my finger crossed that nothing major happens between now and then.

MySpace Removes.......

The number was 40,000 more than MySpace had previously acknowledged. The task force of state attorneys general were looking into sex offenders' use of social networking. The officials are awaiting a response to a similar subpoena issued to Facebook, another popular social networking site that they said also might host "substantial numbers of convicted offenders." The online networking site MySpace has identified and barred some 90,000 registered sex offenders from using the site over the last two years. A U.S. database of sex offenders that includes as many as 120 details for each offender, from their names and addresses to their scars and tattoos was set up over two years ago. MySpace has removed these individuals from their site and is providing data about these offenders to any law enforcement agency, that needs it.
